Roses Roundtables

A Component of the Mission Ready Toolkit Series

Celebrate What’s Good, Together

At Safe Space Strategies, we know that recognition is more than a nicety, it’s essential for building teams that thrive. That’s why we created the Roses Roundtable, a focused, accessible practice that makes appreciation routine, not random.

When do you host a Roses Roundtable?

  • As a closing activity at events, retreats, or meetings

  • When you want to build appreciation and connection within your team

  • Anytime you want to make recognition a living part of your organization’s culture

Our Roses Roundtable is inspired by the trusted and well-known RBT (Roses, Buds, and Thorns) reflection framework. For some gatherings, we focus solely on Roses to strengthen trust and highlight unsung contributions. For teams seeking a more complete reflection, we facilitate the full RBT process; helping groups celebrate wins, surface opportunities, and address challenges together.

How Does a Rose Compare to Buds and Thorns?

  • Rose:  A sincere recognition of something good. A win, a highlight, or an act worth celebrating. We want more and more roses with each initiative!

  • Bud:  A hope, opportunity, or new idea. Buds are full of potential you’re excited to nurture and look forward to their full bloom.

  • Thorn:  A challenge, tension, or obstacle that deserves honest attention. We don't want "thorns" to reoccur.

Our facilitation for full RBT post-event reflection sessions is gentle, brave, and tailored to your group to ensure honest conversation leads to real growth.

With our support, your team can:

  • Celebrate what’s working (Roses)

  • Identify opportunities and next steps (Buds)

  • Name and address challenges (Thorns)

  • Move from reflection to action in a supportive, solutions-oriented environment
